The oncologist

Today was my appointment with Dr. Gray, my oncologist. He came well recommended. On the way to the appointment I picked up the MRI report. It provided Dr. Gray with more information. We still need to check the lymph nodes but right now it looks like I have stage 2A invasive carcinoma. I will need to have surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and hormone treatments. That should all take approximately 6 months. I will also need to have some tests in addition to the ones on Wednesday, done to see if the cancer has spread. On Wednesday they are going to biopsy the spot on the right. I am going back for a blood test tomorrow.

We also got some good news today. I have heard great things about a surgeon in Salt Lake named Dr Rosenthal. Although I liked Dr. Jordan I really wanted to talk to a surgeon who sees primarily breast cancer patients. One of the other breast cancer patients that I have talked to is currently seeing Dr Rosenthal. From talking with her I knew that I wanted to see Dr Rosenthal before I made any decisions. I had called her office on Friday to try and get an appointment. They told me that she could see my on February 8th. I was still in shock from my appointment earlier that day that I just said thanks and that I would call back later. I talked to a few people over the weekend who were going to try and help me get in. This morning I got a call around 10:30 from one of those people who has become my guardian angel. She got me an appointment with Dr. Rosenthal for 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. That was the best news I have had since I found out I had cancer. I finally feel like we are getting somewhere and that things are going my way.

I will write more tomorrow.
