Doing Okay

Today is Sunday. I wasn't up to going to church yet. I stopped taking the pain medication yesterday. Now I am just taking ibuprofen. The itching has gone away. The movement in my left arm is continuing to get better. The tissue under my arm is still swollen and numb but there is very little pain. It feels like I have a shirt on that is too tight under my arm.
I have two drains for collecting fluid and blood. David helps me empty the plastic bottle at the bottom of the tubes that come out of my incisions. He also has to strip the tubes which means he pushes the fluid along the tube until it comes out the bottom into the bottle. This keeps blood clots or calcium build up from blocking off the tube. I try not to watch when he does that because for the first few days after surgery it made me dizzy to see the blood.
I have a large ace bandage that wraps around me. It is about 5 inches wide. The bandage helps protect the incision sight and gives me something to attach the drains to so that they aren't hanging down in the way. I haven't looked at the incisions yet because I thought it would make me sick to look at where the tubes were coming out. Hopefully Dr. Rosenthal will be able to take the drains out when we see her tomorrow but I doubt it. There is still a lot of fluid coming out. I might try looking at it then. I still don't know yet.
