Friday's Appointment

We received more test results today when we went to our appointment. They were good. The CT, bone scan and echocardiogram were all normal. Everything is set for me to start chemo. We actually could have started today but when Dr. Gray mentioned it I started feeling hot and dizzy. Logically I was okay with starting today but subconsciously I guess I wasn't. We decided to wait until Monday so that Dr. Gray would be around to keep an eye on me. If I am still nausiated even after taking the medicines to prevent it, I can go back in on Tuesday. I will have my second treatment two weeks later.

Dear Candice,

I just love the way you look at life. Always looking for something positive to come out of a bad situation. It is your beautiful outlook on life that will sustain you as you walk this journey. Please know that you have many friends that will hold you up during this journey. I know that all of us at Paint Sundries will form an interlocking of arms to lift you as you need it. We are ready and willing to make dinner once a week (you pick a day) and we will have it for you on the same day each week.
May you have hope, courage, strength, and understanding as you walk this journey. I love you Candice, and you are in my prayers,
Sherri Hansen

Hey Candy!
Thank you so much for taking time to write your story. My heart and prayers are with you. Your attitute is an inspiration, and I thank you for the example. I would love to give you a hug in person, but this hug from a distance will have to do.
Best wishes!

Dear Candy,

I have been reading your blog and wish I had had one while I was going through my cancer treatment a year and a half ago...it is a wonderful sharing space! It sure helps everyone who is going through this journey with you to understand it from your eyes!

I wanted to share a couple of things with you...I also have a port and what I found was a cream, I think it's called Litocaine (I'll have to check that to be sure) but I was told to put it on the port an hour before treatment so the needle wouldn't hurt. Well..I tried that and it still hurt, but what I found was if I put it on three hours before the treatment...there was no pain at all. I've talked to several people who have had the same experience.

Also...you were probably told this as well...but if the prescription you have for nausea medication doesn't work for you, there are about a hundred others and don't give up until you find the one that really works...cuz there will be one that's just right for you!

I love your positive attitude and spirit...it will be a wonderful friend as you go through this journey. I consider my cancer the most amazing gift I could have ever received. The heroes I have met along the way continue to amaze me...yourself included!

It can be scary, because it is all unknown at this point...but there are angels everywhere to help you along the way.

You are strong...get your rest and believe in miracles...they're everywhere!
